Evaluating Energy Sources of the Future Through a Professional Responsibility Lens

An immersion program created in partnership with Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign focused on studying how companies can develop comprehensive plans to transition a country’s energy and infrastructure toward a low-carbon future in a professionally responsible manner. The program was led by professor Gretchen Winter and Anthony Valente, and offered in two modalities: remote and in-person.

Remote: Tuesdays and Thursdays March 19th to April 30th, 2024.
In Person: May 14th to May 20th, 2024
Total workload: 80 hours

During the project, students were able to develop the following skills:

Critical Thinking: The ability to analyze complex issues, consider multiple perspectives, and make informed decisions. This includes the ability to evaluate sources of information, identify biases, and develop logical arguments.

Global Market Awareness: An understanding of global markets, including industry trends, cultural nuances, and business practices, and the ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities in different cultural contexts

Adaptability: The ability to adjust to new environments, cultural norms, and ways of doing things. This includes the ability to navigate unfamiliar situations and handle unexpected challenges.

Cross-Cultural Communication: The ability to communicate effectively with people different cultures and backgrounds, including nonverbal communication and cultural sensitivity.

Self-Reflection: The ability to reflect on one`s own experiences, values, and beliefs, and understand how they shape perceptions and interactions with others. This includes the ability to identify biases, challenge assumptions, and engage in continuous learning and growth.
