Intercultural Communication - International Project

The general objective of the communication program for university students in Latin America was to develop different skills in students within a multicultural and international environment. Students in the program explored global trends, communication models and the interpersonal and emotional skills needed to become great leaders in a globalized environment.

Issues such as global ethics, social responsibility and sustainable development must be taken into account by global leaders, and the program sought to prepare students to communicate in a complex and interconnected world, developing their effective communication skills in diverse cultural contexts, teamwork skills, collaborative leadership and problem solving.

During the project, students were able to develop the following skills:

Awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Understand the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including their impact on the global economy, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Develop the ability to identify opportunities that support sustainable and responsible practices in different cultural contexts.

Critical Thinking: the ability to analyze complex issues, consider multiple perspectives, and make informed decisions. This includes the ability to evaluate sources of information, identify biases, and develop logical arguments.

Adaptability: The ability to adapt to new environments, cultural norms and ways of doing things.

Cross-Cultural Communication: The ability to communicate effectively with people different cultures and backgrounds, including non-verbal communication and cultural sensitivity.

Self-Reflection: The ability to reflect on one`s own experiences, values and beliefs, and understand how they shape perceptions and interactions with others. This includes the ability to identify biases, question assumptions, and engage in continuous learning and growth.
Cuestiones como la ética global, la responsabilidad social y el desarrollo sostenible deben ser tenidas en cuenta por los líderes globales, y el programa buscó preparar a los estudiantes para comunicarse en un mundo complejo e interconectado, desarrollando sus habilidades de comunicación efectiva en contextos culturales diversos, habilidades de trabajo en equipo, liderazgo colaborativo y resolución de problemas.

Durante el proyecto, los estudiantes pudieron desarrollar las siguientes habilidades:

Pensamiento Crítico: La capacidad de analizar temas complejos, considerar múltiples perspectivas y tomar decisiones informadas. Esto incluye la habilidad de evaluar fuentes de información, identificar sesgos y desarrollar argumentos lógicos.

Conciencia de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (SDGs): Comprender los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de las Naciones Unidas, incluyendo su impacto en la economía global, la justicia social y la sostenibilidad ambiental. Desarrollar la capacidad de identificar oportunidades que apoyen prácticas sostenibles y responsables en diferentes contextos culturales.

Adaptabilidad: La capacidad de adaptarse a nuevos entornos, normas culturales y formas de hacer las cosas.

Comunicación Intercultural: La capacidad de comunicarse efectivamente con personas de diferentes culturas y antecedentes, incluyendo la comunicación no verbal y la sensibilidad cultural.

Auto-Reflexión: La capacidad de reflexionar sobre las propias experiencias, valores y creencias, y comprender cómo moldean las percepciones y las interacciones con los demás. Esto incluye la habilidad de identificar sesgos, cuestionar suposiciones y comprometerse en un aprendizaje y crecimiento continuos.


O que é necessário para conquistar este badge

The program criteria for certification are as follows:

- Students must have attended at least 80% of the program sessions.

- Presentation of a 2-minute pitch: Students must have developed a communication campaign aimed at a target audience in Latin America. The communication must have been done through a two-minute video in vertical format, based on one or more social networks (TikTok, Instagram or other). In the video, they must have addressed the importance of one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They should have chosen three SDGs, explained their importance and detailed the actions that must be developed to achieve them by 2030.

Video evaluation criteria:

Visual presentation: the presentation is visually appealing, with a good choice of colors, fonts and images that complement and reinforce the message conveyed.
Scoring: 1 to 10

Oral Presentation: The speech has been delivered with confidence, with good diction, fluency and an appropriate tone of voice.
Score: 1 to 10

Structure and organization: The speech followed a logical and well-organized structure that allowed the jury to follow the reasoning and steps of the presentation.
Score: 1 to 10

Application Feasibility: The pitch addressed the feasibility of the idea, demonstrating how it can be implemented and sustained over the long term.
Scoring: 1 to 10
